Syracuse had a 10 point lead with two minutes to go, but UNC was able to cut that lead all the way down to 2 points with 19 seconds to go. Buddy Boeheim crossed the 1,000th career points mark, as he scored 26 points for Cuse. Quincy Guerrier added 18 points and six rebounds. For North Carolina, Armando Bacot had a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds.
